Abstract

Sustainability in material science is a growing concern. Researchers face significant challenges in developing both high performance and sustainable materials, but the demand for such materials is urgent due to increasing environmental awareness. Achieving sustainability in materials science necessitates a careful consideration of performance, cost-effectiveness, resource availability, low impact on environment, consumer acceptance, recycling and circularity, and regulatory compliance.
Sustainability in materials science plays a crucial role across various applications, including building and construction, wastewater treatment, electronics and semiconductors. The development of advanced green materials, novel cost-effective manufacturing and processing methods, new technologies in recycling and reuse of wastes, reducing the consumption of non-renewable resources, lowering carbon footprint, contribute to the advancement of sustainable development.
The first edition of the international conference on sustainable applied materials ICSAM-2025 is dedicated to fostering sustainable materials research and innovation through international collaboration.
